Fester & Bobbi came to see us at our summer Animal Health Clinic.
It was apparent to Dr. Shawn that Fester needed some help with his teeth, but an in-depth examination and assessment was not possible at this one day event. Fester will be heading to the SPCA clinic this weekend to get a thorough exam and treatment plan. *Update: The vet noticed a heart murmur 2-3/6 that wasn’t indicated on the previous exams, and because Fester is coughing, we will have an x-ray done before we look to do the dental surgery. Fester also has a couple of lumps and warts that will be removed when the dental surgery is done. The quote provided for the dental surgery is $1,146.22
Shortly after Bobbi saw Dr. Shawn he had an accident and is now in a significant amount of pain with limited mobility of one leg. It is estimated that surgery to repair his leg will cost approximately $2,000. So we are sending him to the SPCA clinic on Monday for a second opinion and treatment plan. *Update: Dr. Kestleman examined Bobbi and feels that it is a right patellar subluxation. He placed Bobby on Metacam for a week and booked a recheck with Dr. Prostran (the BC SPCA surgeon) to decide on surgery
Because Fester & Bobbi’s people are low income earners, they are able to access the BCSPCA’s subsidies program and we have committed to paying for both examinations and surgeries.
And we need your help to do this! Once they have seen the veterinarian at the clinic we will be able to update our efforts with a more accurate cost, however, we are estimating that the total of the two, including follow up care will be approximately $3,000.
Please help us help these two valued family members get the care they need and deserve.
