Hearts on Noses gets a helping hand

In September 2013, the sanctuary director of Hearts on Noses, a mini pig sanctuary in Mission suffered a heart attack. As the primary care taker of more than 40 pigs, Janice, began to feel overwhelmed and, with fewer and fewer volunteers showing up to help, the task of maintaining the sanctuary became to feel impossible. Not to mention, the responsibility of trying to raise money for a sanctuary for an animal that many people put on their fork.

When the rescue community heard about Janice’s challenges, they were quick to respond. Volunteers headed out to give her a hand, and calls for donations circulated.

We also wanted to do what we could to help. A call went out to our Grants Committee for permission to provide an emergency grant of $500. The committee unanimously agreed, and our executive director contacted Janice to let her know the funds were available.

Paws for Hope Animal Foundation believes in the humane treatment of all animals and are grateful that sanctuaries such as this exist.

Our ability to respond to emergencies such as this is made possible through the generous donations of our supporters. Please consider donating so that we can ensure qualified rescues and sanctuaries can continue doing this amazing life saving work.
