It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share with you the news that Harley, the sweet 12 year old Bichon who was discarded by his family went over to the rainbow bridge today.

Below is the email we received from Tammy, one of the angels who has been fighting so hard to give Harley a second chance.

After speaking with me today, Sandi made the decision to let Harley go today. He was a mess this morning and went from doing well these past weeks to not wanting to eat today, couldn’t really walk as time went by, and his one eye swelled shut and the other was weeping badly….Sandi had to wait till 1:00 to take him into the vet and he just progressed. I chatted with her and told her that I felt the time was now to let him go and the vets agreed once she got there. She is heart broken but knew that he wouldn’t get better no matter what.

There will be some final bills for his insulin/diabetes tests last week and his visit & cremation today…sadly, we lost the fight with this guy, and my heart goes out to Sandi for taking him on and loving him to pieces…she is a brave and truly giving, caring woman.

Naturally, once final bills are paid the rest of the funds can stay in the Guardian Angel Fund for others who dare rescue a dog in need and need financial help. Hopefully they deal with the basics and not something like we had to take on which was not curable in any way, shape or form. Poor little man.

We are taking his ashes to my sister’s in the country and placing them in her little pet cemetery where he can be with other dogs who were much loved and sadly missed to this day…it’s a beautiful spot and he can rest in peace. I would like to think that when he went to heaven that my Casey was there to greet him.
Thank you for all that you have done for us.
Tammy

Thank you to everyone who donated so generously to Harley and I hope you can take some solace in knowing that he was loved and cared for so dearly over the past few weeks and I am sure he left us knowing that.
We will utilize the remaining donations to help other animals in need through our Guardian Angel Fund. And if you have any questions or concerns about this, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
